How to make a complaint about the ethical review process or an ethical issue relating to a research study reviewed by a HSE Reference Research Ethics Committee

Complaints about the ethical review process or ethical issues related to research studies reviewed by a HSE Reference REC (RREC) should be made, in writing, to the HSE Reference REC that approved the research. Complaints should be handled promptly and sensitively by the HSE RREC. The HSE RREC will acknowledge the complaint and inform the HSE Research Ethics Committee Support and Coordination Office (SCO), within five working days of its submission. Should any patients, research participants, researchers, staff of institutions, or others, be dissatisfied with the response of the respective HSE Reference REC to their complaint, they can approach the HSE Reference REC SCO at HSE.REC@hse.ie
