Not withstanding the current lack of REC coverage in CHO6, CHO7 and CHO9  under no circumstances should a research study requiring REC approval go ahead without first receiving a favourable opinion from a REC – please contact the R&D team ( for advice.

CHO 3: HSE Mid-Western Area and UL Hospital Group Research Ethics Committee

CHO 4: Clinical Research Ethics Committee of The Cork Teaching Hospitals

CHO 5: HSE South Eastern Area Research Ethics Committee

CHO 6: none currently available

CHO 7: none currently available but Naas General Hospital Research Ethics Committee and Tallaght University Hospital and St. James’s Hospital Joint Research Ethics Committee may consider reviewing proposals

CHO8: HSE Midlands Area Research Ethics Committee

CHO 9: none currently available. Beaumont Hospital Ethics Medical Research Committee will review applications for North County Dublin Mental Health Services. This is an agreement specifically with this service area as Beaumont provides the associated inpatient service.
